I am positioned to be a driving force of success at BVA rather than experiencing success as a small cog in a much larger wheel.
— Myles McCormack
Q: How does BVA differ from other firms where you have worked?
I have been fortunate to work for several outstanding firms during my career. For me, what distinguishes BVA is my level of access to and engagement with the most senior leadership of the firm. Instead of hearing from firm leaders from my seat amongst hundreds of other colleagues at the annual firm meeting, I take a few short steps down the hall to sit and meet with firm leaders on a daily basis. I feel like I am positioned to be a driving force of success at BVA rather than experiencing success as a small cog in a much larger wheel at other firms.
Q: What does teamwork look like at BVA?
Consulting can be challenging at times. Condensed timelines. New information gets revealed that changes the analysis. Monday morning report deadlines. But even when times get tough, I know I am not alone. At BVA, my teammates help me get the job done by diving into the details as we navigate the best way to do great work for our clients.
Q: What employee characteristics are most important for success at BVA?
Some of this sounds cliché – a keen attention to detail and intellectual curiosity. These are traits of successful employees at BVA who strive to be THE subject matter experts of whatever topic they are analyzing whether it be for the 100th time or the very first time.
Q: What aspects of your work do you find most fulfilling? Which do you find most challenging?
The most fulfilling part of my work is helping our clients find solutions to their most challenging issues. Whether it comes from asking the right questions or providing insight regarding financial, accounting, or economic issues, it is rewarding to be acknowledged for providing great value to our clients. It can be challenging when encountering issues for the first time but ultimately fulfilling when we think outside the box, put in the work collectively, and prepare a great deliverable for our clients.
